Competition ‘AI: Spotlight on People and Society’

Into-waves entered the DWIH São Paulo 2024 competition ‘Artificial Intelligence: Spotlight on People and Society’ with a focus on artificial intelligence: how can it be used to contribute to economic sustainability and social and ecological development? Our team was certain: to build a resilient bottom-up economy, consisting of small players, for the production and distribution of a community hearing aid.

As an example, we used data from the Institute for Applied Economic Research (Ipea) - Brazil to create a map of local demand for hearing aids. A neural network was developed to describe the demand with regularly available statistical data. AI can also be embedded in a framework in many other places to provide interested market partners with access to knowledge and guidance in business development. The overarching goal is therefore not only to help people with hearing loss, but also to build a capable and inclusive economy and thus contribute to a sustainable solution and a resilient society.

The slides of our pitch with results can be viewed here.

The winner of the competition is paged.ai with an AI-based system that shows users the search potential of content on social media platforms. Congratulations! Click here for more information on the challenge.
